The indoor cricket league is reaching an exciting climax! Just not for us 🙂

Bembridge 136-3 beat Ryde CC Colts 131-2 by 3 wickets

Young Cavaliers 128-5 beat Newport Ale House 114-4 by 14 runs

Wootton 91-3 beat Freshwater 90 all out by 3 wickets

Arreton 171-2 beat Binstead Royals 100-1 by 72 runs

With just two rounds of matches remaining, Young Cavaliers have established a 2-point lead at the top of table. Andy Loudon made a solid 32 in his side’s score of 128-5 in their match against The Newport Ale House. The Ale House were given a steady start by Owain Hooper and Chris Ash in their reply, but were unable to break the shackles of some tight bowling and fell 15 runs short of the target.

Bembridge have improved after an uncertain start to the season and they still have a chance of winning the league title after beating Ryde CC Youth. Set 132 to win by the Youth, a fine innings of 36 not out by Phil Macdonald propelled them his side to victory. The Youth have faded in recent weeks and have have now slipped to third place in the league.

Freshwater’s disappointing season continued with defeat to Wootton. Batting first, they were dismissed for just 90, with much of the damage being done by Les Lockey (3-19). Wootton initially found runs hard to come by against some accurate bowling from Steve Priddle and Glenn Bailey in particular, but reached their target thanks to a steady innings by Trev Lockey.

Binstead Royals remain without a win after their defeat to Arreton. Wayward bowling gifted their opponents 60 runs in extras as Arreton complied a massive score of 171-2. The Royals lost only one wicket in reply, but fell well short of their target.
