Young Cavaliers 79-1 beat Cask & crispin 75 all out by 5 wickets

Arreton 122-2 beat Binstead Royals 119-5 by 4 wickets

Freshwater 33-0 beat Wootton 32 all out by 6 wickets

Bembridge 148-4 beat Ryde Colts 116 all out by 32 runs

In the morning’s top match, Bembridge held off a stiff challenge from Ryde Colt to move back into first place of the League. They were indebted to a fine knock of by Steve Benford (38 not out) for their innings total of 148. Benford and Mano Obeseykere (27) had engineered a strong recovery after the loss of early wickets to set the Colts a daunting target. The latter nevertheless replied with positive intent. Sam Rockley struck 42 and Kevin Cooper kept his team in the hunt with an innings of 35. But the introduction of Dan Macarthur (2-26) and John Bridge (2-30) into the attack precipitated a fall of wickets, and the margin of Bembridge’s victory was in the end quite comfortable.

Arreton registered their first win of the season against Binstead Royals. Barry Lloyd (29) an Dave Lloyd (23) gave Binstead a solid start, but the later batsmen failed to convert it in to a seriously competitive total. Requiring 120 for victory, Arreton paced their innings perfectly. Gary Cooper made 25 not out and Sam Read put the result beyond doubt with a steady innings of 27 not out.

Young Cavaliers brushed Cask & Crispin aside in a one-sided affair. The Crispin were bowled out for just 75. Kieran Thompson returned notable figures of 2-4, and Jack Austin and Dan Keller also each captured two wickets. Against some dispirited bowling, Jeremy Icke (26 not out) guided the Cavaliers to an easy 5 wicket victory.

The encounter between Freshwater and Wootton produced an even shorter match. Wootton were skittted for 32. No batsman reached double figures and Joel Farrell collected two wickets in a hostile spell of bowling. Freshwater reached their target in under four overs. Eleven year old Josh Hebden scored 17 not out and had also earlier claimed his first indoor wicket.
