Relegation Six-Pointer. Week 13 Results for the indoor cricket league.

Actually there’s no relegation from the indoor cricket league, but if there was, the fixture between Freshwater and Binstead Royals would definitely be a six-pointer!

A report on week 13 of the indoor cricket league follows.

Young Cavaliers 125-1 beat Bembridge 124-3 by 5 wickets

Ryde CC Youth 88-0 beat Wootton 87 all out by 6 wickets

Newport Ale House 146-2 beat Arreton 67 all out by 79 runs

Freshwater 73-0 beat Binstead Royals 72 all out by 6 wickets

With just one week of the league remaining, Young Cavaliers have all but secured the title. In a tense match they prevailed over a combative Bembridge side and only a massive defeat in their final game will now deny them a second successive league title. Against some parsimonious bowling from Geoff Hope and Harry Bradley, Bembridge found runs hard to come by and only when Dan Macarthur (26 not out) arrived at the wicket were they able to accelerate. Chasing 125, the Cavaliers were given a solid start by Andy Loudon and G Niemic and reached the target with an over to spare.

Ryde Youth moved back into second place with an easy win over Wootton. Two early wickets for Harry Bradley put Wootton on the back foot and they never recovered, slumping to 87 all out. Jordan Galsworthy and Harry Bradley both passed 25 as Youth knocked off the runs inside 9 overs without loss.

A devastating spell of bowling by Chris Ash (3-12) helped Newport Ale House dismiss Arreton for a paltry 67. Earlier, the Ale House had complied 146-2, with Owain Hooper (27 not out) and Toby Corbin (27 not out) being the main contributors.

At the bottom end of the table, defeat to Freshwater condemns Binstead Royals to a last place finish. Batting first, they collapsed to 73 all out, with Jason Swain capturing 3 wickets. Tom Henderson then hit 30 not out as Freshwater stormed to victory inside 5 overs.
